I tried Reiki for the first time...here's what happened!

Reiki was an incredible experience. I wasn't sure what to think, especially because it was virtual. I have always heard great things and it has been on my spiritual bucket list for awhile. I found someone who was offering virtual sessions and came highly recommended (thanks to one of my girlfriends, Jess!). So this morning, I had my first session!

A Lot Can Happen in 5 Years!

3 years ago -I had learned so much about my body and nutrition at this time of my life and discovered how deeply these things correlate with my mental health. It’s all fricken connected, people. But I was also seeking a lot of validation. Winning that prize had bumped up my insta followers and opened the endorsement world up to me and I was just so excited to be seen and heard that I got so caught up in the likes and features and abs.

Coffee Time=Me Time

While we were there, as I enjoyed my iced vanilla latte with almond milk (my fav), I realized that coffee is much more to me than just that helpful boost in the morning. I started thinking about WHY I love it SO much. Truth is, most of the time, unless I down 4 shots of espresso, I don’t get that caffeine high from it. Before discovering fitness and self-care, I drank about 3-4 cups a day and STILL never felt awake. I didn’t really drink it to enjoy it,

Joy is in the Simple Things

It occurred to me today that with the ever-growing “to do” lists that pile up and the demands life can bring, it can be very hard to remember to stop and appreciate the simple things and truly get pleasure from them. I was listening to a podcast today and it reminded me that there is so much joy in the simple, everyday things, but it is ALL IN HOW YOU LOOK AT IT.

Make the Decision to Do it

There always comes a moment when you decide to take a step in one direction or the other. As I have been feeling better, but still out of my routine, it has been easy to have that moment and choose not to workout. It isn't about "motivation": it's about that moment and that decision. When it comes to anything in life, we all have that moment where it’s a question of “will we” or “won’t we”.

Pregnancy Dos and Don'ts

I am about to start week 31 of my pregnancy and couldn’t be happier! Baby is moving and grooving daily and boy, is baby active! In thinking about this being the last trimester, I was reflecting back on some things I have learned along the way that I feel I didn’t really know and also that I need reminding of from my first and second tris. Here is my list of DOS AND DON’TS. Disclaimer: My dos and don’ts do NOT need to be in any way shape or form followed by you or taken into consideration for you personally. Every mom is different so this is just what I learned along the way! You do YOU. No mom-shaming here!!!

Manifesting like Taylor Swift

I’m cranking up the volume on the Taylor Swift album as I write this. I have been a huge fan for years, but I didn’t always feel this way about her. In fact, I had a lot of hate at first. Taylor and I actually did musical theater and performed together back when we were kids. We weren’t best friends or anything, but definitely friends of friends and would hang sometimes. She threw a cast party at her parent’s beach house once which I attended and she was always the one at all the cast parties rocking the country songs during karaoke. She had this dream...a dream we all thought was a little bit odd and far too big. She wanted to be a famous country singer. At 9 years old she had this dream.

Gratitude IS the Answer

It’s funny. On our Glass Full of Soul podcast last night we discussed gratitude. We themed it around the timing of the Thanksgiving holiday, but it was a truly nice refresher for me to remind myself that being grateful, in any moment (good or bad), is a very useful tool to feel better, react better, and to get out of the funk that life sometimes brings you.
